Cathay Pacific passenger numbers increased 36% in May 2025

Cathay Pacific carried 2.3 million passengers in May 2025, marking an increase of 36.1% compared to last year. 

The airline's capacity climbed 31.2% in the month, while its revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) increased 38.4%. Passenger load factor increased 4.4 percentage points to 84.7% in May. 

“While May has typically been a quieter month for our travel business, this year it exceeded expectations,” said Cathay Group chief customer and commercial officer Lavinia Lau. 

HK Express' passenger numbers increased 35.7% to 643,322. Capacity was up 42.6%, while RPKs were up 28.6%. The low-cost carrier's load factor was 74.1%, down eight percentage point. 

Cathay Cargo carried 135.8 million kilogrammes of cargo in the month, marking a 12.2% increase. Cargo load factor was flat at a positive 0.1% to 59.4%. Cargo capacity was up 8% and revenue freight tonne kilometres was up 8.1%
