United, American and Delta have all filed flight plans with Chinese authorities when travelling through an air defence zone Beijing has declared over the East China Sea. The airline were advised to follow the rules by US authorities last week, although they added that the decision did “not indicate US government acceptance of China’s requirements”. Japanese carriers ANA Holdings and Japan Airlines have both flown through the zone without informing China without issue.
