Wayne Fry, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight standards division manager for General Aviation Safety Assurance, is to make a comeback as government co-chairman of the United States Helicopter Safety Team (USHST).
The team is a regional partner under the International Helicopter Safety Team, and was set up to lead a government and industry effort to reduce the number of helicopter accidents.
Fry has been with the FAA for 25 years and has held management positions in the Flight Standards Regional offices in Seattle and Fort Worth, in the Flight Standards District Offices in Oklahoma City, Houston and Baton Rouge, and in the Aircraft Maintenance Division in Washington DC. Before that he worked in the oil and gas industry with chopper operator Air Logistics.
“It is great to see Wayne stepping back up. Having held this position previously, he never really disconnected from the team; he remains a firm advocate for safety and is well placed to take back this leadership role” said Nick Mayhew, Fry's co-chair.
