Tibet Airlines has placed an order with the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) for 40 units of the C919 plateau variant and 10 units of the ARJ21 plateau variant.
Described by COMAC as ‘a crucial model in the serialized development of the C919 aircraft,’ the plateau variant features ‘a shortened fuselage and high-altitude modifications to meet the transportation requirements of high-altitude regions’. It is suitable for all high-altitude airports in China and has a seating capacity of 140-160.
The plateau variant of the COMAC ARJ21 – a regional aircraft with capacity for up to 90 passengers - has a maximum takeoff and landing altitude of 14,500ft, confirm its manufacturers, ‘showcasing excellent performance for takeoff and landing at high altitudes and resistance to crosswinds’. It is able to operate at the majority of high-altitude airports within China.
The Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment group has also signed an agreement for six ARJ21-derived models, including a firefighting jet, a medical service jet and an emergency management jet.
