Thai SmartLynx Airlines is set to enter Thailand’s aviation sector with the arrival of its first aircraft, one A320 which is expected to be delivered by January 2025.

Currently in Bali, the aircraft is undergoing an engine inspection to ensure it meets operational standards before entering service.

“This first Airbus A320 represents a significant step forward for Thai SmartLynx as we work to create impactful partnerships with Thai airlines,” said Martynas Grigas, chairman of Thai SmartLynx.

He added: “Our focus is on delivering responsive, efficient fleet solutions that empower airlines to grow and adapt, whether it’s for peak season support or exploring new market opportunities.”

This announcement comes just weeks after the carrier received an Air Operator's License (AOL) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), with this license being a crucial precursor to the more comprehensive Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).

The AOL empowers Thai SmartLynx to provide aircraft capacity under Thailand's regulatory framework, along with the support of aviation services provider, Avia Solutions Group.

With the addition of this aircraft, Thai SmartLynx will offer airlines access to capacity as the country’s tourism rebounds to 40 million visitors for the first time since 2019.
