Southwest selects Tom Doxey as CFO

Southwest Airlines has selected Tom Doxey as its new chief financial officer (CFO) and executive vice president (EVP) on February 10, 2025. Doxey will replace retiring CFO Tammy Romo.

“Tom's expertise in financial planning, fleet management, and operationla leadership makes him a tremendous asset to our exectuive team as we drive progress our transformational plan,” said Southwest CEO Bob Jordan. “We are confident that his experience in strategic transformation will be an asset as he builds upon our financial strength, operational excellence, and our deep commitment to our employees, the investment community, and our shareholders.”

Doxey most recently served as president of Breeze Airways, taking it from startup to profitability in under two years. Last year, he transitioned from president to senior advisor to the Breeze senior leadership team.

Prior to Breeze, Doxey held several leadership roles at United Airlines, including senior vice president of technical operations and CFO of operations where he oversaw global maintenance, supply chain and engineering teams. His aviation career began in financial planning and fleet management roles at Allegiant Air and US Airways.

“I am so optimistic about where Southwest is headed and I am eager to be part of the transformation underway at the airline,” said Doxey in a LinkedIn post.

The airline is currently undergoing a fleet renewal, retiring its old 737 NGs for 737 MAX aircraft, as well as retrofitting its cabins with premium seat offerings — expected to begin mid-way through this year. Furthermore, the airline is pursuing more international airline partnerships and offering redeye flights in order to boost its competitive position.

“I am looking forward to getting out into the operation to meet with the incredible Southwest team, flying alongside our customers, interacting with the aviation finance community, and partnering with the communities that we serve,” concluded Doxey.

Doxey holds a master of business administration from Arizona State University and a bachelor of arts in public relations from Brigham Young University.
