SMBC Aviation Capital signs leases for five A321neo aircraft with Turkish Airlines

SMBC Aviation Capital has signed lease agreements with Turkish Airlines for five A321neo aircraft.

Barry Flannery, chief commercial officer of SMBC Aviation Capital said the transaction with the airline is testament to its “long-standing” relationship with the airline.

The aircraft will bring the number of SMBC Aviation Capital’s direct order book with Airbus placed at Turkish Airlines to 20 aircraft, delivered since 2022.

“We are proud to support Turkish Airlines in their growth and modernisation efforts and look forward to many more successful collaborations in the future,” Flannery added.

“These Airbus A321neo aircraft will play a significant role in advancing our fleet modernisation strategy, enhancing our operational efficiency, and supporting our sustainability goals,” commented Turkish Airlines chairman of the board and the executive committee Ahmet Bolat.

The five aircraft are scheduled to be delivered in 2025.
