SAS and Sunweb sign new deal

SAS and package holiday provider Sunweb have signed a new deal, totalling 740 million SEK ($67.8 million).

This long-term contract mandates SAS to operate charter flights from Denmark and Sweden to a wide range of destinations in Europe. The agreement replaces a previous two-year contract and has been extended through to the summer of 2027. It will also include Airtours’ production following Sunweb’s acquisition in Sweden.

“Both Sunweb and Airtours are long-standing, proficient, and highly valued partners for SAS in the Swedish and Danish markets. The rebranding of Airtours to Sunweb in Sweden highlights the company’s ambitions for expansion in the Nordic region. We are pleased to extend our services across a wide range of destinations,” said Edward Fotheringham, vice president, global sales at SAS.

The Scandinavian airline will fly Sunweb customers from Arlanda, Gothenburg, and Copenhagen to 13 destinations, such as Crete, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Antalya, and Alanya.

Jan Lockhart, country manager at Sunweb commented: “We are excited about the agreement, which marks a significant strategic decision to prioritie collaborations with airlines that share the same values of quality, reliability, and flexibility, with a long-term mindset.”
