Rex moves 737NG simulator to Sydney
Australian regional airline Rex has moved its 737NG full flight simulator to Sydney, where it is ready for use following certification approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). The simulator was originally housed at Ansett Aviation Training (AAT) facilities in Brisbane before its lease expired in 2023. However, with AAT declining to extend the term, Rex instead began construction of its own purpose-built simulator centre in Mascot, Sydney. The installation of the simulator, which can be configured for 737-700 and 737-800 variants, is “an important milestone in supporting the growth of our 737 fleet and clearly demonstrates the commitment of the Rex board and Management to safety,” explained Rex general manager of flight operations and chief pilot, Paul Fisher. He added that as well as adding synergies to the airline’s own training requirements, the simulator also offered training opportunities for both domestic and international external operators.
