QANTAS HAVE NO SAY IN RETURN TO SERVICE OF A380

Qantas Airways will now require the approval of the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority before it can return its fleet of A380s to service. The authority will “decide if it’s happy or not” with the findings of an investigation being carried out by Qantas, Rolls-Royce Group and Airbus, a spokesman said. Separately, the Australian Transport and Safety Bureau said Thursday it will publish the first findings of its investigation centered around a “geared disk” by December 3. This news could delay the return to service of the aircraft and mean higher costs for Qantas in the short term which are likely to be passed on to either Airbus or Rolls Royce.
