Primera Air has suspended scheduled flights between Birmingham, UK and Toronto, Canada, which were scheduled to begin on June 21, due to a lack of equipment caused by the delay in delivery of the carrier’s A321neo aircraft.
“We did not anticipate such severe Airbus delays and the prolonged hold-up has forced us to make this difficult and disappointing decision,” said Andri Mar Ingolfsson, chief executive officer of Primera Air, in a statement.
Airbus was scheduled to deliver six Airbus A321s to Primera this year. The carrier now intends to begin long-haul operations out of Birmingham to Toronto and New York in 2019.
