A passenger aircraft carrying some 48 people crashed on July 24, 2025, in Russia’s far eastern Amur region, with no survivors reported, according to Russian authorities and local media.

The aircraft, an Antonov An-24 operated by Angara Airlines, disappeared from radar during its approach to the town of Tynda, about 360 miles from its departure point in Blagoveshchensk.

News agency Interfax reported that the wreckage was located approximately nine miles from Tynda in a densely forested area. The plane was nearly 50 years old, according to aircraft registration data cited by multiple Russian media outlets.

Amur region Governor Vasily Orlov said in a social media post that the plane lost contact with air traffic control shortly before it was due to land. Emergency services later discovered the crash site in nearby woods, he added.

Unverified video posted to social media and filmed from a helicopter showed debris scattered in a heavily wooded area.
