Norwegian group carried nearly 3 million passengers in August
Norwegian group carried a total of 2.7 million passengers in August 2024, up 10% over the same period last year. This consists of Norwegian carrying 2.4 million passengers, while its regional airline subsidiary Wideroe carried nearly 341,000 passengers. ""We had a significant increase in capacity year on year, while at the same time improving both the load factor and the yields from August 2023,"" said Norwegian CEO Geir Karlsen. Norwegian's load factor was up 0.4 percentage point (ppt) to 85.7%, while Wideroe's was up 3.9ppt to 76.5%. Norwegian's total capacity was up 11%, however, its subsidiary was down 2% when comparing the month to August 2023. Revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) were up 3% for Wideroe, while its parent company reported an increased RPK of 11% from August 2023. Karlsen continued: ""Norwegian’s autumn sales campaign was well received by our customers. We are excited to see the pace of bookings continuing into the autumn and winter seasons across a good mix of traditionally popular routes and new destinations. ""The autumn school holiday weeks are beginning to look quite busy with many popular destinations filling up rather quickly.""
