Monarch Airlines is all set for revival with new owners, new management a new website and social media channel. The airline went bankrupt in 2017 due to financial distress.
According to the set of documents filed with the Companies House in London it is a no-surprise that Monarch Airlines Limited is now under a new ownership, with new set of top management and has changed the address of its registered company office from Coventry to London Luton Airport.
The airline’s new website features the Monarch Airlines logo along with the teaser - “Coming Soon - We're working hard building a brand-new Monarch just for you. Please stay tuned for updates."
But it looks like it will be a while for the new airline to launch commercial operations as it is yet to apply for Air Operator's License (AOC). The airline management is planning to apply for AOC in next few days.
The original Monarch began as a charter airline and later branched out into scheduled services, mostly connecting the UK to leisure destinations in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean. The airline had a fleet of 35 Airbus A320 family aircraft plus a single Boeing 737-800, in addition to an order for 30-45 Boeing 737 MAX jets and was a strong player in the UK’s leisure air travel market.
As per sources the airline is also in contact with lessors for second-hand fleet of aircraft to initiate a launch.
