Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has signed a sale and purchase agreement with the government of Sarawak for the transfer of ownership of MASwings.
MASwings is a regional subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, primarily serving rural and remote areas on the island of Borneo.
This agreement follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the governing authority of the Malaysian state of Sarawak and regional charter airline Hornbill Skyways on October 27, 2023.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with MAG stating that the company is working closely with all stakeholders, including shareholder Khazanah Nasional Berhad.
Throughout the transition period, MASwings will continue operating under MAG, with no disruptions to flight schedules.
