Lufthansa Technik has signed an agreement with Smartwings to support the Czech airline with a comprehensive engine management service for the carrier’s 737NG and MAX aircraft.
The first induction of LEAP-1B engines for its 737 MAX fleet is scheduled for the beginning of 2025, with an existing contract for the CFM56-7B engines (powering 30 of Smartwings’ 737NG aircraft) extended until 2030.
“With our capacity growth supporting the LEAP-1B engine, our customers can significantly benefit from our commitment to deliver world-class engine MRO services,” commented Harald Gloy, chief operations and HR officer of Lufthansa Technik.
The technical services provider already provides Smartwings with Total Component Support services for its 737NG and MAX 8 aircraft, including component MRO services and pool access as well as component delivery to selected international airports within Europe.
