London Southend Airport will remain closed after a Beechcraft King Air B200 aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff on July 13, 2025.

The crash claimed the lives of four people on-board the aircraft, which was on its way to Lelystad, Netherlands, from Southend Airport, which is home to its operator, Seusch Aviation.

The company said they were actively supporting authorities with the investigation, and that their thoughts were with "everyone who has been affected".

Video footage posted on social media shows a large explosion with plumes of black smoke billowing from the side of one of the airport’s runways.

The plane had arrived at Southend Airport earlier that day, having flown from Croatia.

In a statement, the airport said that all flights to and from Southend had been rerouted on July 14.
