London City Airport welcomes return of services to Madrid

London City Airport has welcomed the return of services to Madrid, following the relaunch of the British Airways Cityflyer route to the Spanish capital on Monday (December 1).

BA Cityflyer is now operating an 11-times-weekly service from London City, the capital’s most centrally located airport, using Embraer E190 aircraft.

Alison FitzGerald, CEO of London City Airport, said Madrid is "consistently" a destination that London City passengers want greater access to.

“Restoring this connection further strengthens our global reach, offering travellers even more choice through key European hubs, all with competitive fares and the convenience we’re known for,” she said.

This winter, BA Cityflyer has also resumed partial winter services from London City to Innsbruck ahead of the Christmas holidays, and has brought back popular ski connections to Geneva and Chambery.

Year-round services to San Sebastian and Ibiza remain available, while demand for festive travel to Dublin and Rome continues to “surge”.
