The Estonian government has received a bid for seven aircraft that were previously operated by the now-bankrupt state-owned airline Nordica.
Estonia’s Minister of Infrastructure, Vladimir Svet, told Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) – Estonian Public Broadcasting that Transpordi Varahaldus, the state-owned company that owns the seven Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft, has received its “best bid” for the fleet.
The aircraft were originally leased by Transpordi Varahaldus to Nordica, which subleased them to its subsidiary, Regional Jet, operating under the Xfly brand.
The minister did not disclose the name of the bidder but told the Estonian broadcaster that the prospective buyer is an international company, which is active in the aviation sector. “In the first half of March, we plan to sign a letter of intent with the company that has offered the best price for the aircraft," added Svet.
Nordica ceased operations and filed for bankruptcy in November 2024, after a potential investor backed out of a deal to save the airline.
