Embraer adds Starlink connectivity to Praetor, Legacy jets; expands MRO footprint

Embraer will offer Starlink satellite connectivity as an aftermarket solution for its Praetor and Legacy business jet families, through a new partnership with Nextant Aerospace, the engineering arm of Flexjet.

The service will be available for the Praetor 600, Praetor 500, Legacy 500, and Legacy 450 models via a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification has already been received for the Praetor 500 and Legacy 450, with certification for the Praetor 600 and Legacy 500 expected in the third quarter of 2025. Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approvals are scheduled to follow in the fourth quarter of 2025 and first quarter of 2026, respectively.

“We’re excited to bring Starlink’s cutting-edge, high-speed internet to our customers," said Marsha Woelber, vice president, customer support & aftermarket sales for executive jets, Embraer Executive Jets. "This builds on our ongoing efforts, strengthening our commitment to seamless, connected flight experiences around the world."

The companies are also developing a Starlink STC for the Phenom 300 series, expected to be available by the end of 2025. Flexjet, which operates the world’s largest Praetor fleet, plans to equip all of its Praetor aircraft with the Starlink system.

Embraer said its global service centre network is prepared to handle installations and urged interested customers to contact their aftermarket sales representatives.

The Brazilian manufacturer has also stated that Chile’s Aerocardal has joined its authorised service centre network for executive jets, as the planemaker expands its maintenance footprint in Latin America.

Based at Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, Aerocardal will offer line maintenance services, including unscheduled maintenance, AOG support and drop-ins for local and international customers.

The addition of Aerocardal is part of Embraer’s broader effort to expand maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities globally.

The company operates nine owned service centres for executive aviation and recently doubled its maintenance capacity in the U.S. with new business jet lines in Dallas, Cleveland, and Sanford.
