Aeromexico’s net profit for 2014 was MXP783 million ($53 million) – a decline of 27.5% from the airline’s 2013 net profit of MXP1.08 billion. Aeromexico’s full-year revenues rose 7.7% to MXP42.92 billion; operating expenses grew 8.6% to MXP35.05 billion. Accounting for aircraft leasing expenses and currency depreciation, the airline’s full-year operating profit came to MXP1.68 billion, a 30.1% decline.
For the fourth quarter, the airline group posted a 97.6% improvement in net profit. Aeromexico’s air cargo revenue grew 24.1% during the fourth quarter to MXP685. Cargo capacity was boosted thanks to the introduction of five 787s into its fleet.
Fourth-quarter revenue rose 8.3% to MXP11.6 billion, with operating expenses up 3.5% to MXP8.97 billion. Operating profit after leasing expenses and depreciation rose 45.9% to MXP925 million.
Passenger traffic rose 15% over the year to 28.77 billion RPKs, on the back of capacity growth of 11.5% to 36.22 billion ASKs. The carrier’s 2014 load factor was 79.8%, up 2.2 percentage points. The airline carried 17.2 million passengers in 2014, up 11% YOY—a “historical record for the company,” said Aeromexico.
