Elbe Flugzeugwerke re-enters the A380 maintenance market

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) - a joint venture of ST Engineering and Airbus – is to re-enter the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) market for the A380.

EFW will carry out an upcoming airframe A380 maintenance service for Global Airlines - a new customer of EFW -at its facility in Dresden, Germany. The company will conduct airframe heavy maintenance services to facilitate entry into commercial service of the airlines first A380 aircraft.

“Given our years of experience in servicing the A380, we are excited to re-establish our MRO activities for this unique aircraft,” said Jordi Boto, CEO of EFW. “We look forward to supporting our new customer Global Airlines with its first A380 and seeing more aircraft of this type back in the sky.”

EFW will be responsible for all scheduled maintenance, including mandatory inspections and component replacements.

James Asquith, CEO and founder of Global Airlines added: “Joining forces with EFW is the next significant step in our quest to seeing our first A380 in the sky, MSN120’s journey back to the skies has taken yet another significant step forward and I am excited to see our first aircraft fly to Dresden for this work to progress.”

EFW has received A380 MRO orders from other customers, and will expand its A380 maintenance activities from 2025 onwards.
