Delta Air Lines and United Airlines commenced flights from their respective hubs in New York and Washington DC to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER).
Delta Air Lines now offers non-stop daily service from New York (JFK) to Berlin Brandenburg for the first time. Prior to pandemic the airline flew to the now defunct Berlin Tegel Airport. Delta is planning to deploy its B767-300ER on the route.
United Airlines will also offer daily non-stop service connecting Berlin Brandenburg to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) on Boeing 767. United Airlines is the only carrier to serve the route between Berlin and Washington, DC, although the carrier also flies year-round to Berlin from its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
Delighted at the announcement, Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive, Berlin Brandenburg Airport said: “With the new non-stop connection from BER to Washington, DC, the two capital regions are only around nine hours apart. With this second connection to the east coast of the US, United Airlines is significantly expanding its commitment to BER. The BER-Washington connection helps to further strengthen cooperation and tourism between Germany and the USA, and strengthens the attractiveness of the Berlin-Brandenburg region as a business location."
United Airlines now operates more flights between Germany and the US than any other airline, with up to 18 daily departures throughout the summer.
