Central Airlines maps out cargo flights between New York and Chine, Awaiting DOT approval

Central Airlines has filed an application with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to begin operating cargo and mail flights between China and US from November 2023. The airline is planning to deploy its B777 Freighter between Shenzhen and New York six times weekly.

Central Airlines fleet comprises of one B777F, five B737-300Fs and four B737-800 BCFs, the airline is planning to induct a second B777 by August this year.

The airline flies its single B777 to Paris and Riyadh while the B737s cover destinations around China and Asia.

The airline is seeking permission to operate flights from "a point or points in the People's Republic of China to any point or points in the United States open to scheduled international service,” the filing read.

The filing further adds that that application is fully consistent with the air services agreement China and the US that was signed in 1980.

"Central Airlines’ proposed service would benefit shippers in both the United States and China by providing new scheduled service and would serve the public interest," the application read.
