Cause of Voepass ATR crash in Brazil still remains unknown
The cause of a crash involving an ATR 72-500 aircraft that occurred just north of Sao Paulo, Brazil on August 9, 2024, still remains unknown. The aircraft involved belonged to Brazilian carrier Voepass and was travelling between the cities of Cascavel and Sao Paulo when the incident occurred. “Voepass regrets to inform that the number of victims of the accident that occurred on Friday, August 9, of flight 2283, coming from Cascavel to Guarulhos airport is 62 people,” said a spokesperson for the airline. The Sao Paulo state government has confirmed that flight’s black boxes have been located and removed from the crash site for investigation in Brasilia. ATR, who manufactured the aircraft involved added: “The ATR specialists are fully engaged to support both the investigation and the customer.” Officials remain at the crash site.
