British Airways is set to expand its operations to Italy, adding three new routes for the summer of 2025.
Starting in May, the British flag carrier will launch new services from London Heathrow to Rimini, from London Gatwick to Salerno and a new route from London City to Olbia, complementing existing flights from Heathrow.
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ chief planning and strategy officer, cited Italy's popularity with travellers as a key factor in the expansion: “Italy continues to be hugely popular with our customers, making it our largest European destination and second globally, only behind the US.”
The airline also confirmed that its short-haul network will remain unaffected by ongoing delivery delays related to the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines on its 787 fleet.
