Boeing to invest $1 billion to boost 787 production

Boeing plans to expand its operations at the 787 production site Charleston, South Carolina with a $1bn investment into the site's infrastructure. The company is aiming to increase the 787's production rate to 10 jets per month by 2026.

In addition, the company is creating 500 new jobs over the next five years.

Boeing South Carolina (BSC) workers have been assembling the 787 for over a decade.

Boeing vice president and general manager of the 787 programme and BSC site leader Scott Stocker said the “significant investment” and new jobs reflects Boeing's “confidence in our workforce and highlights the strength of our pro-business environment”.
