BermudAir, a new boutique airline, has received its Air Operators Certificate from the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority, paving the way for launch of its commercial operations. The airline plans to operate all-business class flights between Bermuda and the US East Coast, aiming to support Bermuda's business and tourism sectors.
Commenting on the latest development, Adam Scott, chief executive said: “We’re grateful that BermudAir’s work to set up a world class airline in Bermuda has been validated via the rigorous AOC assessment process. This is a major milestone for the team towards fully launching the airline and being able to serve this Caribbean market. Both the BCAA and the company’s team put in a lot of hours to get to this point”
BermudAir will now apply for approval from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) toward launch. Service is scheduled to begin later this summer, subject to the pending USS regulatory approval with the airline planning to operate the route on its Embraer E175 aircraft.
Azorra has signed lease agreements with BermudAir last June for two Embraer E175 aircraft.
As per Cirium data, there are about 78 weekly flights between the United States and Bermuda as of July 2023, with 8,486 seats available, or 108.8 per departure.
