Work has been completed on Beijing's second international airport - expected to become one of the busiest in the world - as its construction aims to take the pressure off Beijing Capital International Airport.
The airport, worth around £9 billion, is located approximately 28 miles from central Beijing. The terminal at Beijing Daxing International Airport measures 1,000,000 sq m.
Operations at the new Beijing Daxing International Airport will start by the end of September following six major test runs, road and rail links, including a high-speed subway line, are already in place.
The airport should be able to accommodate 72 million passengers a year by 2025, reports suggest.
In addition to passengers, the airport is also expected to support 20 million tonnes of cargo and mail on a yearly basis.
Initially the airport will have four runways, eventually, Beijing's Daxing International Airport will have seven runways in total.
It's being reported that carriers such as China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines will start flying from the new facility later this year.
