SIA achieves load factor of 89% in July 2023

Singapore Airlines achieved a load factor of 89% over July during the peak summer travel season. SIA and Scoot together carried over three million passengers last month.

Out of the three million, SIA carried 1.94 million, up 30% from last year with an average load factor of 89%. Capacity, as measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), was up by 20%, while revenue per passenger kilometer increased by almost 22%.

Subsidiary Scoot carried over a million passengers last month up 76.8% year-on-year with a load factor of 92.7%, an increase of 6.7 percentage points. In fact, July became the eighth consecutive month that Scoot has managed to exceed a load factor of 90%.

The airline's cargo division saw a load factor of 52.4%, down over eight percentage points year-on-year. While capacity increased by 7.3% due to the rise in passenger operations, and thus more belly cargo space, loads were down by 7.1% year-on-year due to weaker demand. The biggest decline in load factor was seen in East Asia, which dropped from 66.1% to 45.5%.
