Munich Airport will implement Assaia’s AI-powered turnaround platform, ApronAI, to improve operational efficiency and ramp performance at 150 of its gates, with further expansion planned.
The move is part of the airport’s wider digitalisation strategy, aimed at enhancing punctuality, streamlining gate operations, and reducing environmental impact.
Serving nearly 42 million passengers in 2024, Munich is Germany’s second-busiest airport.
ApronAI uses video analytics and machine learning to monitor aircraft turnaround activities in real time, flagging delays and providing alerts that enable proactive decision-making by ground crews.
“For Munich Airport, it's a critical step towards enhancing our operations using data and artificial intelligence,” said Thomas Hoff Andersson, the airport’s chief operating officer. “With Assaia’s technology, we can streamline processes and improve decision-making, ultimately delivering a better experience for our passengers.”
Assaia emphasised that the platform will help operators avoid bottlenecks and improve on-time performance without needing major infrastructure investments.
