Panasonic Avionics launches 'major enhancements' to 3D in-flight map platform

Panasonic Avionics has introduced a suite of "major enhancements" to its Arc in-flight map platform.

Arc's new features include ‘Arc Vistas’, which delivers “cinematic fly-through visuals” inspired by the destination. Airlines can also now highlight their global networks within the in-flight experience through customizable route maps.

“Passengers are looking for more engaging, personalised, and inclusive in-flight experiences, but traditional maps have often felt static and lacking in emotional or informational depth,” said Patrick Biggerstaff, senior director of product management for digital solutions at Panasonic Avionics.

The new enhancements introduce integration application programming interfaces (APIs), which allow for airlines and third-party developers to bring map data and visuals to other passenger touchpoints. This includes airline apps, portals, and seatback experiences.

“The latest Arc evolutions address these needs, transforming the map into a platform for storytelling, inclusivity, and brand connection, while reinforcing Panasonic Avionics' position as a leader in map innovation and passenger-centric design,” said Biggerstaff.

The enhancements also allow for increased accessibility such as text scaling and colour adjustments.
