Fuel scarcity has hit the Nigerian Aviation sector yet again with official circulars and warnings from the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) of major flight disruptions due to scarcity of jet-A1 fuel. This is the third time after May 2022, and June 2022 that aviation fuel scarcity has led to flight disruptions.
The past two times number of airlines had to reschedule or cancel their flights.
Obiora Okonkwo, spokesperson, AON, said: “We wish to inform the general public of impending disruptions in scheduled flight operations due to the scarcity of aviation fuel, otherwise known as jet-A1, which reared its ugly head again in the last few days. This would force airlines to reschedule flights, leading to late operations and in extreme circumstances, to cancellations.
He further added that AON would try its level best to ensure seamless and safe air travel for all the airlines and passengers.
Going ahead, he resolved to remedy the situation by calling the concerned authorities including product importers and marketers to do their best to resolve this ugly situation so as to ease the stress it brings on the travelling public especially during holiday times.
