Louis Gallois, chief executive of Airbus parent company EADS said that 2010 orders had been "better than expected" and claimed the crisis was in the past. Although Gallois said cash flow was excellent it was also apparent that cost relating to the A380 problems would be a factor on the firm’s underlying profitability in 2011.
EADS forecasts underlying profit of €1.2 billion ($1.6 billion) for 2010.
Full year orders for Airbus will be announced last week but they are expected to hit 500 orders and 500 deliveries, much more than 2009 where it booked 310 orders and delivered 498 aircraft.
The good news from the European aircraft manufacturer was that A380 production will rise to two per month in 2011, which is much more than the average delivery of 18 aircraft in 2010.
