airBaltic has recorded its highest ever annual traffic figures during 2024, carrying 8.3 million passengers during 2024.
In comparison to the year prior, passenger numbers increased by 18%, rising from a figure of seven million that was recorded by the Baltic carrier in 2023. Early indications from the airline also suggest that this increase in capacity has “exceeded” pre-pandemic records.
Over the 12-month period, airBaltic operated a total of 73,300 flights - which includes ACMI charter operations, an increase of 12% in comparison to the year prior.
Martin Gauss, president and CEO of airBaltic said that during 2024, the airline reaffirmed its position as a “key player” in European aviation.
“We carried 8.3 million passengers and completed more flights than ever before, despite a challenging environment, we are proud of these achievements, which reflects the trust of our passengers," added Gauss.
In addition to increases in passenger numbers and flights operated, the airline also recorded an increase in its load factor, rising by 4.5 percentage points, averaging at 81.2% for 2024.
These results follow the recent news that the flag-carrier of Latvia will reduce its schedule for 2025, cancelling 4,670 flights from its summer 2025 schedule, citing "unexpected delays" and "prolonged engine maintenance" by its engine supplier Pratt & Whitney.
The airline also appointed Robbert Strating as its new SVP of flight operations and will also serve as deputy accountable manager.
