The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved Delta Air Lines codeshare partnership with airBaltic. The two airlines had applied with the DOT about two years back. Delta hopes to attract passengers planning to travel between US and Baltic countries as it does not have a strong presence in the Baltics.
Delta will put its code on airBaltic flights, but in the future, the two airlines could expand that codeshare to put airBaltic's code on Delta's flights from Europe to the United States. Delta is also planning robust expansion in other parts of Europe. The airline announced its largest-ever transatlantic schedule to include 77 different routes across the Atlantic Ocean connecting 32 different destinations.
Delta has also increased its flights from Atlanta to Tel Aviv and from John F Kennedy Airport to Nice and France recently.
Delta also operates daily year-round routes to Paris, France from LAX.
