airBaltic launched new direct flights between Vilnius and Prague. The service will operate twice per week from May 22 until September 27, 2025.
“The launch of direct flights between Vilnius and Prague restores a long-unserved route, making travel significantly easier for the approximately 20,000 passengers annually who previously relied on connecting flights,” airBaltic VP network management Mantas Vrubliauskas. “This new service will support both leisure and business travel, while also contributing to inbound tourism and the broader economic development of Lithuania and the entire Baltic region.”
airBaltic operates a fleet of all A220 aircraft.
In addition to the new route, the airline also opened its 6,895m² cargo hub on May 22. The Baltic Cargo Hub is based at RIX Riga Airport and is designed to support growing cargo demand.
The airline said the facility's advanced semi-automatic material handling systems, and it also being located directly at the cargo apron, the facility will allow for “swift and seamless” cargo processing.
“This state-of-the-art facility will significantly increase cargo capacity at the Riga Airport — up to 45,000 tonnes of cargo annually — and is open to all carriers looking to expand in the Baltics,” said airBaltic interim CEO and COO Pauls Calitis. “For airBaltic, it provides an opportunity to further develop our cargo services and support our role in international logistics.”
“With a purpose-built mail sorting facility, it also plays a key role in strengthening international postal mail flows via Riga,” Baltic Cargo Centre chairman of the board Arvids Maurans. “This milestone is the result of strong collaboration and dedication from many parties, and it demonstrates our shared ambition to support the continued growth of both cargo and mail transit through Latvia.”
