Record fines from DOT’s Office of Aviation Enforcement and Proceedings

AirAsia Group has confirmed that it has provided financial assistance to its associate and subsidiary companies during the third quarter ended 30 September 2020.
On 16 July 2020, $1 million was provided to AirAsia Japan, with a further $1.8 million on 21 August 2020.
On 23 September 2020, $1.1 million was provided to PT Indonesia AirAsia (IAA) through its wholly-owned subsidiary, AirAsia Berhad.
On 7 August 2020, $1 million was provided to Big Pay through its wholly-owned subsidiary, AirAsia Digital Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as Redbeat Ventures Sdn. Bhd.),
The company says that the financial assistance was provided in the “ordinary course of business and to facilitate the running of the operations and financial affairs of AAJ, IAA and Big Pay”.
Meanwhile, AirAsia Bhd has reported a net loss of $1.084bn for the third quarter ending Sept. 30, 2020 compared to a loss of $67.7million in the prior-year period. For the year to date, the group lost $3.205bn compared to a profit of $99.466 million in the same period in 2019.
