Impacted by a one-day shutdown caused by a strike by cabin personnel on March 21, Lufthansa’s net loss widened in the first quarter with a decline of 16.5% to €459 million. Revenue was virtually flat at a 0.1% rise to €6.6 billion. On March 21, Lufthansa cancelled almost all of its 1,700 flights due to the one-day strike, while the airline group was also impacted by a €64 million charge for severance pay and other cost associated with the airline group’s restructuring.
Lufthansa has confirmed its forecast for increased operating earnings this year over last year, however.
