Aeroflot has taken delivery of a new A320 equipped with aerodynamic wing-tips known as Sharklets, becoming the first Russian airline to operate the latest modification from Airbus. The aircraft has been named in honour of Alexander Butlerov, a nineteenth century Russian chemist and creator of the theory of chemical structure of organic substances.
Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Saveliev stated: “Aeroflot’s fleet is the best in Russia and one of the most modern in Europe. Continuing to modernize and strengthen our fleet is a top priority as we respond to growth in our markets and execute on our strategic development plans.”
All A320 aircraft are delivered to Aeroflot directly from the manufacturer. Aircraft are equipped with CFM56 engines and can accommodate 158 passengers in a spacious two-class configuration (8 seats in business and 150 in economy).
