Global passenger demand – measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) – increased 9.1% in June, compared to the same month last year. In addition, according to data from IATA, capacity was up 8.5%. When looking at international demand, an increase of 12.3% occurred, similarly domestic demand also rose by 4.3%, in comparison to data from June 2023. “Demand grew across all regions as the peak Northern summer travel season began in June. And with overall capacity growth lagging demand we saw a very strong average load factor of 85% achieved in both domestic and international operations,” said IATA director general
