Cirium has released its on-time performance (OTP) report for airlines and airports during the month July this year. Data from the month shows that many airlines and airports were affected by the July 19, global IT outage stemming from a CrowdStrike and Microsoft software update error. The disruption caused by the global outage resulted in over 5,000 cancelled flights worldwide with thousands more delayed between July 19 -21. The data shows that airlines and airports across North America, Europe and the Asia/Pacific region – heavily dependent on Microsoft systems – saw the most disruption during the period.
