Afriqiyah Airways and Libyan Airlines have incurred up to $200million in damages since armed conflict occurred at Tripoli Airport earlier this month. In total, thirteen aircraft were either damaged or destroyed during the conflict. Afriqiyah’s chairman Abdulhakim Al-Fares said: “The damage ranges from serious to superficial, and we need time to see how grave the damage is.” The airport is expected to remain closed until the security situation improves and repairs to the terminal and associated infrastructure have been carried out.
