Sweden will abolish its aviation tax from July 1, 2025. Under the tax, which was introduced in 2018, passengers departing from Swedish airports were charged based on the destination. Aircraft with 10 or less seating capacity were exempt. The move was made to boost the competitiveness of airlines. Under tax rules, passengers could pay an additional $7.4 to $49 on top of their tickets. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) welcomed the tax abolishment.
