Lufthansa cabin crew to strike for two days as labour dispute escalates, reports say

The walkout, called by the Independent Flight Attendants’ Organization (UFO), is set to begin at 00:01 local time on Wednesday and run until late Thursday, affecting departures from Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport.

The action follows a series of recent strikes by Lufthansa staff, including a two-day pilot walkout on April 13-14 that led to hundreds of flight cancellations. Local reports said the latest industrial action is likely to deepen disruption across the airline’s network, with previous cabin crew strikes already forcing the cancellation of more than 500 flights.

Cabin crew had also staged a one-day strike on April 10, as tensions between unions and management intensified over pay and working conditions. The pilots’ strike earlier this week, organised by the Vereinigung Cockpit union, added to the operational strain.

Local media said the dispute reflects a broader breakdown in negotiations, with unions accusing management of failing to make meaningful concessions, while Lufthansa has previously described some of the demands as unrealistic.

The strike is expected to impact multiple Lufthansa group operations, including regional subsidiary Lufthansa CityLine, and could affect flights across several German airports.

Passengers have been advised to check flight statuses before travelling, as the airline works to mitigate disruption during one of its busiest travel periods.
