Air cargo demand and rates from Asia Pacific regions are continuing to soar, according to WorldACD market data.
Based on more than 450,000 weekly transactions covered by WorldACD data, overall tonnages and rates from Asia Pacific are up, with spot rates between Vietnam and Europe double their equivalent level this time last year, averaging $4.19 per kilo in the last seven weeks.
Demand and rates on the transpacific market are also highly elevated compared with last year, with average spot rates from Asia Pacific and China origins standing at 45.23 AND $5.30 per kilo.
Total worldwide chargeable weight flown in weeks 22 and 23 slipped slightly by one percent compared to the previous two weeks.
Worldwide tonnages were up by 12 percent, year on year.
