Wizz Air to resume operations from Warsaw Modlin

Wizz Air will relaunch operations from Warsaw’s Modlin Airport later this year, following a 13-year hiatus.

This comes after the airline said earlier in July that it would “intensify” its focus in central and eastern European markets, following the closure of its base in Abu Dhabi.

The Hungarian airline will reportedly base two aircraft at the Polish airport from December, flying to destinations including Athens, as well as several Italian cities such as Alghero, Brindisi, Palermo, and Milan-Bergamo.

Wizz will also connect Modlin airport with Barcelona, Bergen, Chisinau, Malta, Paphos, and Sofia.

Fellow European low-cost carrier Ryanair is also scheduling a ramp up of operations at the Polish airport, with plans to more than treble passenger numbers and launch 25 new routes.
