Wizz Air is all set to expand its operations from Belgrade by introduction of five new routes to Lisbon, Bergamo, Berlin, Copenhagen and Zakynthos. The airline also plans to station its fourth Airbus A321 in the city. With these routes, Wizz Air will be the only operator between Serbia and Portugal.
Commenting on its expansion, Wizz Air's Network Officer, Evelin Jeckel, said: "We are delighted to be expanding our operations in Belgrade and thereby confirming our commitment to the Serbian market, where we are the leading ultra-low-cost airline in terms of the number of available seats and passengers carried. From July 2023, we will have four aircraft stationed at Belgrade Airport connecting the Serbian capital with numerous destinations. The addition of another jet in Belgrade allows us to further grow our position on the market and offer passengers from Serbia the opportunity to travel to a total of 23 cities in thirteen countries".
The new flights will commence towards the end of July 2023 or early August 2023, while the flights to Bergamo will start in September 2023. Services to Berlin and Copenhagen will run four times per week, Lisbon and Zakynthos twice per week, while Bergamo will operate five times per week. Wizz Air will also increase frequencies on a number of routes it already maintains from Belgrade. The new additions will bring Wizz Air’s route network from the Serbian capital to 23.
With this route expansion, Belgrade Airport will see the introduction of 25 new routes in 2023.
