Wizz Air takes delivery of 250th aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital

Wizz Air has received its 250th aircraft since the company launched operations in 2003, following the delivery of an A321-271NX from SMBC Aviation Capital.

The aircraft, which is equipped with two IAE PW1133G-JM engines, was delivered from Airbus’s facility in Toulouse to Budapest airport on Friday (November 28).

József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, said the delivery of its 250th aircraft is a “defining moment” for the low-cost carrier.

“This milestone reflects over two decades of bold decisions, relentless innovation and the passion of thousands of colleagues and partners who share the same vision and believe in making air travel more affordable and accessible for all,” he said.

“It proves that our strategy is working, and our momentum now is stronger than ever.”

The CEO added that Wizz Air is committed to doubling its fleet size over the next decade.

Last month, Wizz Air reported an impressive H1 fiscal-year 2025 performance, with double-digit gains in EBITDA and operating profit.

In the six months to September 30, 2025, Wizz Air delivered total revenue of €3.4bn, up 9%, and carried 36.5 million passengers, up 9.8% over the same period last year.
