Wizz Air has released its passenger data for September, showing that the low-cost airline carried 6.26 million passengers in total.
This represents an 8.8% increase compared to the same month last year. Seat capacity increased 7.6% year on year, while its load factor increased one percentage point to 92.8%.
Additionally, Wizz Air reported CO2 emissions of 49.8 grams per revenue passenger kilometre (RPK) in September, marking the second consecutive month with figures below 50 grams.
This represents a 4.8% year-on-year reduction compared to August's figure of 49.6 grams, which was down 2.5% from the previous year.
The decrease was driven by a transition to A321neo aircraft and higher load factors, the airline said.
Over the past seven years, Wizz Air has recorded emissions below 50 grams per RPK three times.
In September 2025, Wizz Air was named Sustainable Airline of the Year by Airline Economics.
Earlier this month, Wizz Air announced that it will be closing its Vienna base in March 2026, citing “unsustainable” cost increases.
Under the plans, two aircraft will move to a new base opening in Bratislava by November 14.
Three remaining aircraft at Vienna will be moved to other parts of the network by March next year.
The airline said the changes reflect the “resetting” of its network to develop lower-cost airport options.
